The Weald of Kent Craft & Design Show returns to the beautiful grounds of Penshurst Place & Gardens, nr Tonbridge from 5 – 7 September for three days of festivities for all the family to enjoy. The show is one of the biggest in the calendar for leading British craftsmen and women who will be selling their handmade wares. With family friendly workshops, live music and delicious food available throughout, the show is a perfect day out for all.

Over 200 British craftspeople will be displaying their inspirational work, giving visitors the ideal opportunity to buy that special someone a thoughtful gift or pick up something unique for the home or garden. With an extensive collection of glassware, jewellery, clothes, paintings and much more available to suit all tastes. For a chance to see cutting edge design, the Graduate Marquee offers a wonderful chance to buy a ‘one-off’ for the home with truly stunning and innovative pieces at exclusive prices.

This year, a browse through the craft stands can be combined with a stroll in the Chilstone Artisan Garden. A must see for horticulturists, the garden will showcase the engravings of Nigel Hartfield, one of Kent’s leading stone masons. The green fingered experts of Chilstone and How Green Nursery will also be on hand to answer questions and advise visitors on their planting and garden queries, plus there will be ample opportunity to purchase plants.

All of that activity is bound to work up an appetite. Peckish visitors can enjoy delicious dishes and sumptuous drinks from Café Eatons Bar who offer Italian coffees, hand-made cakes, afternoon teas and a full bar complete with Champagne, Prosecco, Pimm’s, wines and beers as well as a selection of delectable  savoury foods. This new catering experience complements the return of Good Food Live – a foodies delight and excellent chance to buy luxury items from specialist food and drink producers.

Little hands will be kept happily occupied in the family craft workshops available throughout. Children can have a go at pencil making, woodturning, paper making, decorative ceramics, drawing and pyrography under the watchful eye of expert craftspeople. When the little ones begin to tire, the Birds and Beasts Roadshow is sure to revive spirits. Live animals, creepy crawlies, reptiles and birds will be visiting the show too to offer an informative diversion. Exciting Falconry Displays by popular falconers Leigh and Jo Holmes from The Hawking Centre will complete the entertainment.

Those inspired to learn a new hobby will marvel at the traditional makers demonstrating rural crafts such as wire sculpting, pole lathe turning and wattle, hazel hurdle and spar making. Followed by a visit to The Sculpture School where craft and design enthusiasts can try their hand at their own clay creations with Andrew Sinclair ARBS and Diane Coates, the show is the perfect place to try a range of new activities.
