This is a very comprehensive reference book
covering everything from choosing fabrics, rotary
cutting and strip piecing to quilt embellishment and
fi nishing. There’s even a section on quilter’s
mathematics giving quick reference tables to half
and quarter square triangle as well as decimal to
fractions conversions and the number of varying
sized squares you can cut from a fat quarter. This
section along is invaluable if you are creating your
own quilt patterns. Barbara Weiland Talbert has
been designing and writing about quilts for many
years and has always preferred to create her own
quilt patterns. As part of this process, she has
amassed a considerable amount of reference
material and set out to write a book which she
wished she’d had when she started quilting. There
are many questions in this book that you may have
never considered and as such, it’s an enlightening
read with or without a specific question in mind.
The book is well illustrated and indexed and would
be an asset to any quilter’s library.
