One of our favourite autumn events and a great textile exhibition. The Knitting & Stitching Show in Harrogate offers great shopping, inspiring galleries, naked knitting, swishing and many other exciting features. And Gok Wan is in town too!
25 – 28 November 2010, Harrogate International Centre
Twisted Thread's last show of the season
takes place in just under two weeks time at Harrogate right in the heart of
beautiful Yorkshire.
As always, The Knitting &
Stitching Show will offer fabulous
shopping opportunities with over 300 different specialist exhibitors to buy
from. And with an extensive range of workshops lined up there will also the
chance to learn many new skills from beginners crochet to felt making or
beadwork, all from top teachers.
An
entire hall will be devoted to gallery
exhibitions so there will be plenty to inspire. This year's fantastic line
up of international textile artists includes Alice Kettle and Jane McKeating
Machine Stitch Perspectives, The Julia Caprara Retrospective plus special
lecture, The Quaker Tapestry and the Knitted Victorian Christmas. Very festive
in the run up to the season with knitted Father Christmas sipping his knitted
glass of sherry! Knitted toys, knitted Christmas tree, knitted fireplace,
window and even the curtains are knitted.
Swishing is the
thing this season! Come along to the
Swishing Salon and exchange good quality clothing (and therefore encourage
recycling over waste). A haven of creativity, with craft and dressmaking
experts from Craft Guerilla on hand to show you techniques for ‘upcycling’
clothing and for making your own!
If that's not enough excitment, Gok Wan will be in town and has taken over
The Royal Theatre. His invitation goes out to all K&S visitors to join him
and, on Friday, he brings his catwalk and the ultimate Face Off with Brix to
Harrogate. Come to The Knitting and Stitching Show, have a great day and then
relax for Gok’s Fashion Fix, which starts at 5.00 on Friday 26th
November. Tickets for Gok’s Fashion Fix are entirely free of charge but are
available on a first come, first served basis by emailing
