Join Sara Cook from Brighton Fashion and Textile School for a Sashiko sampler sewalong, and you could win a subscription to Popular Patchwork
Fancy following a fun Sashiko Sampler this summer and the chance to win a prize? Well it’s simple. You can follow Sara's posts as she stitches nine different designs.
Share your squares with Sara and other stitchers on Instagram by tagging them #sashikosampler or on Sara's facebook page. Sara will choose a winner each week who will receive a small prize. There will be a grand prize: a subscription to Popular Patchwork Magazine, awarded to one stitcher at the end of the sewalong. The first three patterns are available now on Brighton Fashion and Textiles School's website.
To make the sampler. Sara is using an indigo coloured cotton fabric and a white thread. She is stitching all her designs onto one piece of fabric but you could make individual squares if you prefer. You may wish to use specialist fabric, thread and needles, but it's possible to achieve very good results without investing in new materials. You will need a ruler and suitable fabric marker to mark out the designs. Each square will be 3in, a nice portable size and fairly quick to sew.
