It's that time of year again, and we've gone bag batty with our latest  selection of handbags and holdalls for the 2011 Handbag Special. This issue is a bumper with 100 pages and includes 14 fantastic bag themed projects for you to make. There are shopping bags, 'Sunshine Shopper' by Angela Huddart, a 'Sizzling Shoulder Bag' from Brenda Dean, and 'Celtic Carriers' by Joyce Dawe. Then there's 'Monochrome Style' by Wendy Gardiner, 'Holiday Holdall' from Pat Stone and two 'Bunting Bags' by Mandy Munroe. 'Throughly Modern Millie' is back, this time as a redwork handbag, and Sadie Yeomans gets to grips with furnishing fabric in her lovely 'Hot Dogs' tote, shown here on the cover. There's also a great pencil case from the Queen of bags, Lisa Lam, a pretty diamond design by Ruth Lazarus, hearts and hexagons from our Techincal Assistant, Sadie, and Pat Stone has designed a clever sewing organiser. We've been busy making bags with pizza bases in our house, turn to Kids' Corner for some easy bag making fun for families.
In our features section, Gillian Cooper has been busy researching Feedsack fabrics, fabric which began life as bags. I've been to Quiltfest in Wales, (no bags there I'm afraid) and seen some beautiful work from a wide variety of contemporary quilters.
