Michelle tells us a little bit about herself and her quilting.
Congratulations to Michelle from Whitley Bay, who won our June Join Prize. Michelle won a Moda Faded Memories Sampler Tin. She's taken the time to tell us a little bit about herself, so come and meet her!
Michelle says, "I have dabbled with patchwork on and off for years but became really interested 4 or 5 years ago. I like to make quite simple things and am drawn to the history of patchwork and quilting. I also like art quilts and would like to try making one."
We've shown pictures of two 12' blocks that Michelle made for a challenge by the British quilt and textile history list. These blocks have been designed to show the textile history of where the maker lives. The first one is a strippy quilt for Northumberland as Michelle lives in what was part of Northumberland, and the second is inspired by Blandford Forum in Dorset, where Michelle comes from. They were displayed at the Festival of Quilts this summer, so you may have seen them there!
Michelle says that she enjoys visiting the web site and likes to see what people are up to in the gallery. She is interested in textile history and enjoys features like the article on Hatfield house.
