Gosh, sometimes it feels like writing my Welcome column to you comes around so quickly!
In reality it hasn’t of course. So where are we? Oh yes, March. My favourite month. Spring is just starting to, well, spring into action. The days are just starting to get that little bit longer, the garden is starting to awaken from its slumber and the quilt shows are starting again! Sometimes, spring and summer seem to merge into one and so the Hazy Lazy Summer quilt seems quite apt. This lovely quilt combines EPP and appliqué and is a delight. So Darling is a quick pieced quilt which features the latest spring collection from British fabric company, Lewis & Irene while the Springtime Shopper bag is made from fabrics from another British fabric company, Makower. Natalia Manley shows us how to make some stunning appliqué Whirl Cards and we make the next blocks in our series quilt, Mushroom Village. I was lucky enough to see the results of the 2018 Journal Quilt Challenge ‘Sweet Treats’, and very tasty they were too! I love journal quilts and have a strong urge to ‘get into’ making some. Khurshid Bamboat tells us about her recent visit to see the quilts from View Seven, a talented group of textile artists. We find out more about fabric printing company, Standfast & Barracks and regular contributor, Chitra Balasubramaniam tells us about Quilted Hidoni. Finally Joy Harper tells us about the fun that can be had from quilting on the seas in To Cruise or not to Cruise.
