Come and say hi to Elaine, who won the Popular Patchwork join prize in May.
Elaine from Essex won our May join prize. She won eight bright fat quarters from Scanlans Arts.
Elaine says, "What a wonderful surprise; I am not usually a winner even in a raffle draw!"
She continues, "I am a latecomer to patchwork, just celebrated my 70th birthday, having done various forms of needlework for as long as I can remember. My mother wasa great needlewoman so I had bits of scrap paper (for a pattern) and blunt scissors to keep me occupied whilst my mother sewed!"
"I met a lady in the local library, both looking at craft books, and, as I am a Yorkshire girl by birth, got into conversation. I ended by joining her classes to learn applique but quickly changed to Japanese Folded Patchwork; it is so interesting."
I think Elaine's bright fat quarters would make some lovely folded patchwork, I hope she enjoys using them.
