Diagrams for cutting continuous bias strips

An 18in square of binding fabric will give 10 feet of bias binding 2 1/4in wide.

  1. Cut the square of fabric diagonally as shown.
  2. Sew the two pieces together, with right sides facing, as indicated in the diagram. Use a 1/4in seam and press open.
  3. On the WS draw pencil lines 2 1/4in apart.
  4. With RS facing, pin so that the top edge of one side is in line with the first pencil line on the other.
  5. Machine to make a tube and cut along the pencil lines to make the binding.
