Charm Squares are an inexpensive way to include many co-ordinating fabrics in a single quilt and charm packs are readily available. Lesley Chaisson's book includes 15 projects, from small wall hangings and table runners, to quilts. The projects make good use of the pre-cut charm square; many blocks are made by sewing together complete squares, and then cutting the paired squares in different ways to produce secondary blocks. Almost all the projects require additional yardage for background and borders, but the number of additional fabrics is limited, and there are some helpful hints about contrast and tone to help direct you to the correct fabric to complement your chosen charm square selection. The book is great for a beginners, the general instructions are good and basic piecing and fusible web applique are both covered well.
