Chris from the Isle of Man won our Moda Sampler Tin August Join Prize. She sent me two a lovely photo of her latest cot quilts, I'm sure they will both be well received and loved!
Chris says, "I have only been doing patchwork for a short while and I joined a short course at our local college last autumn."
"Since then I have just completed 3 cot quilts in the Sleepyheads Flannel fabric (all these relations having babies at the same time...) ."
"I went to the FOQ in August, it was the first time I have ever been and I thoroughly enjoyed it - the choice of things to buy is great as living on an island can limit this although the local shops do try and stock as much as they can. I met a good crowd from Southern Ireland in the hotel who were very friendly and helpful."
Sandra from Darlington won the "Fast, Fun & Easy Fabric Flowers" book earlier in the month, she was delighted to win a prize and told us a little about her quilting.
"I have been quilting for about 5 years and started as an absolute beginner joining a local club to find a hobby that would help me deal with the stress at work. And it worked and 5 years later a manic quilter emerged. I attend a quilters group in Darlington and we meet every Monday and also arrange a UFO day every 6-8 weeks on a Saturday."
"I'm currently working on a charmed bag which I hope to have finished for the Festival of quilts for the anticipated spend, spend, spend, using Amy Butler fabrics. I'm also working on a large king size quilt made up of a centre block arranged on points with corral blocks and fight blocks making up the remainder of the quilt using American civil war style fabric. I have also just attended a landscape workshop run by Sally Holman which was fabulous so busy making up the frame for the seascape I did which will be a wall hanging for my hall."
