Come and meet our recent Prize winning quilters, Angela, Carole & Jackie.
Carole's First Quilt
Our March Join Prize was won by Carole of Northamptonshire. Carole is a Popular Patchwork subscriber, and won a copy of "Fuse it and Be Done" by Barbara Campbell and Yolanda Fundora. Carole says, "I was delighted to learn that I had won the March joining prize and am really looking forward to receiving 'Fuse it and be done.'"
"I have never been the worlds greatest needlewoman although my mother and sister were both very good so when my sister asked me if I would like to learn patchwork I immediately said no. Remembering all the little hexagons which I had seen stitched together I thought it would take me too long and I would get bored."
"However when I saw the blocks she had made I felt that I had missed out and decided that I needed to learn too! In September 2007 I joined the beginners course at Poppy Patch in Earls Barton and made my first sampler quilt - maybe not perfect but I was hooked. I was shown how to make several different blocks and came away feeling quite confident. Since then I have made quilts for my grandchildren and several cushion covers. Here are some photographs of my first quilt and another which I made on a course taken by Amanda Hall from Monkey Buttons. The pattern is called Gentle Geese. My work is improving though still not perfect but I have to admit that I could qualify as the greatest unpicker!"

Our book competition this month was won by Jackie from Berkshire. Jackie won a copy of "More Fabulous Flowers", by Sharon K Baker. This is a lovely book with some great ideas for three dimensional patchwork, I hope Jackie enjoys it!
Angela's Winning Quillow
This funky "Day of the Dead" quillow was voted your favourite in our online gallery, so Angela from Cheshire is the winner in our Quillow Competition!
Angela made this great quillow for her son who saw the fabric and requested a quilt, it has a 'tie' quillow case. Angela says, "The idea of making a quillow was to make him keep it tidy - it didn't work of course! I'm amazed it's all still in one piece!". Angela wins a Makower Zen Garden fat Quarter bundle as her prize.
