I looked at the Big Shot and was seriously considering it due to the new quilting dies.... however, after talking to a local craft shop owner I have decided to go for a Cuttlebug machine instead. Neater, not as heavy and easy to use but able to take all of the same dies. Some good online offers too.

I'm quite interested in the accuquilt and sizzix machine but more for the appliqué bits.

My friend is going to lend me her sizzix big shot so I can have a play and see if I like it!

Hi Claire, Most of my dies are applique and have used some already but I would be interested how you get on with sizzex as I believe the dies can be used on accuquilt go as well....mind you I really need to get my slice machine out as I have lots of design cards now that haven't yet been opened......naughty girl...will sort that out next year too.....going to be busy. smile p

I'm currently playing with my friends sizzix machine the big kick. It's really good.

my only moan is that sometimes the dies do not cut the fabric completely at some points. I wonder if that's because the die has been well used or whether the sizzix is more designed for card and paper.

??????

Claire, can you cut multi layers with the sizzix machine....the accuquilt go can cut six layers at a time maybe more but thats as much as I have done....the go is really robust...maybe the sizzix is only designd to cut one layer I don't know. The slice only cuts one layer at a time.

Next month's PP has a project by Bridget which uses the Sizzix to cut squares and snowflakes, so it does cut multiple layers, cos I proofed it last night. I've never used any of these, so I wouldn't know normally

I got the Autumn newsletter from Cotton Patch this morning and the big shot is in there....they cut up to 5 at a time....the dies are cheaper than the accuquilt go but seem to be the same..they are supposed to last for many thousands of cuts...that would be good...I know the go dies are very strong.....I will have a look at the big shot and dies when I go to Harrogate on Sunday....will report back.
