The most treasured book in my quilting library is Around the Block by Judy Hopkins. I wore one out, it fell to bits so I had to buy another. It is my bible, is beautifully presented, has hundreds of rotary cut blocks in 6 sizes - all the maths is done for me and the book inspires me to be creative with bits from each block to create my own blocks. Awesome.. I recommend it highly for beginners..

Thanks Cheryl, it is always useful to have a good recommendation for a beginners book.

I've just noticed this wee thread and want to agree wholeheartedly with Cheryl - this was also one of the very first books I bought and I swear by it - it taught me so much and is still a great "reference" book.
