Hi, can any fellow patchworkers please help in telling me how to do a face in patchwork and make it look fairly  realistic. I am not new to patchwork but i have always wondered how it is done. I have seen them in magazines ,  and i am intrigued to know how it is achieved.

Hello Shirley,

Is this the kind of thing you were thinking of, or more realistic? Can you think of an example?

Thank you for your reply . Yes , i was thinking of a more realistic face. I do not need the information for anything specific, i just wondered how it was done for future reference.

Bonnie Lyn McCaffrey features painted faces in her quilts - she has a dvd which you can buy that explains the technique.

The book she's written about it is out of print, but you can add yourself to a reprint list here.

These are more paint than patchwork, so I'll keep looking
