Not sure if this is the right section to ask this but here goes.  I have bought some back issues on Ebay and want to have a go at making a Japanese style jewelry case from September 2003 edition, page 17.  The house block instructions say enlarge and trace the shapes from the block onto freezer paper, the template being on page 57 for another project.  On the template instructions it says enlarge 200% but in jewelry instructions, after first saying enlarge template,  it then says the houses are identical except for the scale, it should make a 4" block for the jewelry roll.  I am confused!  only just starting out so it doesnt take a lot to confuse me LOL Do I use the template without enlarging it?  it looks about the right size but dont want to mess it up! any help would be appreciated

I haven't made this, but we've got this pattern on the website.

The template on page 57 is the right size for the jewelry case, it only needs enlarging for the house project.

Don't forget the seam allowances when you're cutting the fabric though!

Hope that helps

Thanks for your quick response Katy.  I am making a Noah's Ark quilt from Margaret Rolfe's book for my new granddaughter in New Zealand so I wanted to include a kiwi!  Each finished animal finished block measures 5.5 inches square but I don't have any idea how to go about designingone.   I have only tonight found  and joined this site so I am unsure how it really works. I will be grateful for any tips.

I'll see what I can come up with tomorrow, I've had a look around the internet and not found anything so far. If I can't find something I'll draft a kiwi and we'll make something up!

Hi Enid, I recently bought that book but havent attempted to start it yet.  How are you getting on with it? You dont live on the Wirral by any chance do you?  My patchwork teacher mentioned one of her pupils in another class was working on this project and I hadnt heard of it before I bought it.
