I am trying free motion but I have a problem. Some have the threads working well and the stitches are ok. p1090838.jpg

But on the next one I get pulled top thread through to the bottom. white is on the bottom with dark blue on the top.

What am I doing wrong? going to fast/changing direction too quickly/wrong tension.

Any advice gratefully accepted.

thanks in advance

Eileen

I don't do much fmq but it looks as if you might be moving the fabric a bit too fast, hence the big stitches. Also, some machines are fussy. Have you got the same weight thread top and bottom? It is quite a strong difference in colours between top and bottom so there is likely to be some show through. Don't worry about it and use a patterned backing fabric next time. It covers a multitude of 'sins'!
