Thank you Carol, Margaret.

I had a very tearful phone call from her yesterday lunchtime, telling me that I was a "very naughty girl". I think she likes it and the book I sent down with it, she can't wait to get stitching herself. Jayne x

(Of course I had to buy a copy of the book for myself (£5 from the works)- Luna is not a toy as such but I think I might make one for myself - as another dust collector but who cares)

Hi Jayne,

I know that you and your cousin will love this book - here is a Luna Lapin I made recently for my GD as she has been such a brave little girl.

My first attempt at crochet after a 40 year gap! A Simply Crochet pattern by Hannah Cross. This is 'best as' because the instructions seemed to miss bits out. Caron Tea Cakes yarn, a super chunky so it will need a Siberian winter to wear it! Like the border and cowl looking knitted when it is actually all crochet.

Virus Shawl in Caron Cakes, an aran weight yarn with a 5mm hook. Colours looked less strident on web page. Used 2 balls and had 39" left. Measures approx 77" along top edge and approx 35" deep. However, size is not important as you make it as big as you want to. Chart I used is american terminology whilst instructions are english terminology.

Plan to make it again using a cone of 4ply machine knitting yarn and a 3.5mm hook. You follow the same instructions whatever weight yarn you use.

they are beautiful Margaret , crochet is still a skill I have yet to master. I can do a basic chain and turn a corner but that is all. I do have 'how to books' but I prefer being taught.

Lovely work ladies. I'm a bit apethetic at the moment, with my crohn's giving me a lot of pain, and poor sleep. Ihave an ecg and ct scan this week for the heart, so that is making progress, but I'm not getting the excercise, too painful to move at times. Still I'm thinking of lots of ideas, and berating myself for the excessive amounts of fabrics, and where to donate them, school, craft clubs etc.

I have recently crocheted a hat, and a thick rectangle in extra chunky wool, not sure what it will become, and started a jumper r with odd pin needles but I seem to be starting a lot and not finishing at the moment, no concentration.

Ho hum onwards and upwards

Maria, I am sorry that your Crohns is being a swine. I can remember the agony dh used to be in. Now, minus a lot of tubing , his drug regime keeps it mostly under control. I presume that with your other health problems that they cannot give you something so aggressive to fight it, although treatment seems to have altered a lot in the last 35+ years.

Hope it soon calms down for you and gives you some peace, and that the ecg and ct scan go smoothly too.
