Another bad night's sleep and I have a card for my mom for next Sunday. I'm into Redwork and Postcards at the moment so why not combine the techniques into one.

Here in the Black Country we say mom, although my cousin who lives only 40 miles away says mum.

Recently I did a thread about FPP. I had 2 designs printed on to cotton and I really enjoyed doing them. These are the finished lap quilts.

The colours of the purples is much richer than the photo shows.

I have a grand mothers fan and a kaleidoscope set to do too when I get the chance.

Within a week of receiving my magazine, I have made this bird pincushion. I glued a lead button (used in curtains) to the inside of the cardboard base to make it more stable.9f4c7922-de3f-436e-851b-34ba9c96577e.jpeg

Jayne, nice colours, the variegated thread looks good!

Eileen, great lap quilts, what are you going to do with them?

.... and the little bird, Marian, very sweet and clever idea!

Best wishes

the bird is beautiful Marian.

The lap quilts have been done for the proprietor of a fabric shop in Hornsea. I plan to make some for me when I get the time.

I love the embroidery, Jayne - is it a Red Brolly design ? I need to challenge myself this year and try out foundation piecing - Eileen’s quilts, and the one in the latest magazine may inspire me to try it out.

I love the colours of your lap quilts Eileen, they look lovely and cosy.

How quick were you Marian in making your cute little bird? I probably hadn't finished reading it by the time you'd finished sewing it.

Marian, thank you , I don't think it's a Red Brolly Design, I put in "colouring pages flowers" into good old google and had a trawl through the pictures, printed it out 4 to a page (that gives 4" x 6". )   traced on the back with a transfer pencil, and ironed it onto my calico and stitched. I finished it a few days before Mother's Day. It's still on the mantelpiece..!
