The Knitting & Stitching Show is the UK’s biggest textile art, craft and design event. It takes place at Alexandra Palace, London from 10-13th October.
30,000 visitors come to learn new skills, view spectacular galleries by leading contemporary textile artists, top up their supplies and mingle with like-minded crafters.
2019 highlights are: 250+ workshops and talks; a dedicated Dressmaking Studio; free craft demonstrations; drop-in knitting and crochet lessons; artists live at work; The Craft Village featuring boutique companies and comfortable places to relax; catwalk shows; a Prosecco Bar; and 350 exhibitors selling essential supplies.
The show’s Textile Galleries are always a talking point. Headline artists for 2019 are Daisy Collingridge, Georgina Bellamy, Jen Cable, Karine Jollet, Marian Jazmik, Sisse Fog Odgaard and the winner of the inaugural Vlieseline Fine Art Textiles Award.
Free shuttle buses run from Wood Green and Alexandra Palace train stations every 20-30 minutes.

This free exhibition takes an in-depth look at one of Gunnersbury Park Museum’s most remarkable items; a pieced and appliqued quilt created in around 1825 by a family in Acton, west London. Comparing the Acton Top with other historic quilts from the museum collection, the exhibition investigates how quilting developed from the late 1780s to the 1850s and explores associated technological and social changes. The exhibition is accompanied by a programme of talks and workshops. Admission free
