We are in shock, and feeling subdued , following the earthquake, dd was lucky her flight was not delayed as she could have still been there, but she made friends with all the Sherpas and porters. Her friends who were going up to the top are OK they got to camp 1 just before the avalanche, but 3 climbing Sherpas in their group died. There are several people at camp 1 and they are going to club together to decidewhat to do, as their route down has been destroyed, and a new route needs sorting out. I should say they would normally go up two stages and down one to get accimatized. But that has all gone out the window.

From a sad Maria.

When I heard the news I was so thankful that your DD had returned home, but reading your words I really feel for the family's of the poor Sherpas that have died. It has been a terrible loss of life out there. I hope your DD's friends get down from Camp 1 safely. Please let us know how they go on.

Such a sad event.

Dearest Maria, when I heard the news today my thoughts went immediately to you and your daughter and friends. Reading what you have said brought tears to my eyes as I thought about those who have died. I hope those at Camp 1 find a way down safely.

Maria, I am so sorry, thinking of you and your daughter, her friends and companions. I'm so glad your daughter is home, but desperately sad to hear about the Sherpas and I hope everyone still at Camp 1 get down safely, it is horrible to think of it. Much love to you and all who must be worried sick today

Oxfam emergency donation page for Nepal

I don't know if this is the best way to help, but it may help someone who needs it in the next few days. There will be other organisations doing their bit too, but this is start.
