Hi from Canberra. Like Brenda toilet paper is going out as soon as it comes in.

One supermarket chain is only allowing the elderly and those with a disability into their shops from 7 - 8 am. That means older people can actually get some supplies before the hordes of panicked people do their shopping.

My 90 yo mum was telling me her local grocer has people from much further afield coming into buy their stock - so there is nothing for the regular customers - especially on pension day.

We have restrictions on pasta, flour, hand sanitiser, tissues, TP of course, tinned tomatoes, and mince. The poor staff are getting a lot of flak and are becoming quite stressed, even the manager - hence the presence of security in stores.

All the best to everyone and sing twinkle, twinkly little star as you wash your hands - it takes 30 secs and we can practice our singing then! Our grand daughter's childcare uses this method. Just imagine this happening in the public facilities - what a hoot.

Love to all from Sandy

Lovely to see you are ok Brenda.

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all had or are having a great time. The Boxing Day sales are on here in Australia but we are home being quiet after a busy family few days.

Thank you for your Christmas wishes Rosemary and it is a sweet little quilt and a pretty rocking horse. Clever Dad.

All the best and maybe I will have time to participate in a swap this year. xx Sandy

Merry Christmas everyone from sunny Canberra Australia.

We are expecting temps in the low 40 at the end of this week, send us a cool breeze please and we will send you some sunshine.

Although I have not taken part in any swaps for a number of years I have wonderful memories of this that I did take part in.

All the best for the New Year.

I also meant to add that my grandson has finished his treatment for leukaemia and is now a 4 year old with lots of energy and so far so good. Thank you all for my love hearts you posted me a few years ago.

Now hello from me in sunny, hot Canberra, Australia. It seems like years (possibly true) since I have read and written a post here on PP. Life has been full of dramas again for us here but our 7 week prem grand daughter is doing so well (now 22 months) and so is her mother (her health the reason for Josie being delivered early). Our grandson was diagnosed with leukaemia at 18months of age in early 2017 and has now completed the first year year of intensive treatment and one year of maintenance - all with ups and downs. But so far so good, we just have to wait until after August 2020 when all treatment halts. Thankfully my husband and I are going quite well - we do not mention creaky joints, need for new glasses, trips to the dentist, etc - the joys of these golden years? Love to everyone - old friends and new. Sandy

Happy New Year everyone. Hope your Christmas went well and winter is being kinder to you than our summer here in Canberra - 2 weeks of high 30C and then 4 days of 40C and over - must be getting old as we here are not coping as well. Love the quilting you have all been doing, especially those book covers. Sandy

Fantastic work Fiona. Like Margaret I have a number of UFOs in my cupboard - squares in yellow, white and black plus more swaps. Maybe I will bring them to and finally combine them into a quilt top. Hi to all my old friends from past years too. Life here in Canberra is still up and down but I now have 3 grandchildren - another girl (my son's baby), Josephine Mae, 22 months to add to Luci now 6 and Dylan 3. Love to you all, Sandy

Sorry I missed your Birthday Sheila but at least my squishy arrived on time. Happy Birthday Rosemary for the coming birthday. WE will be back home - ALONE - just before Christmas. Off to very warm Queensland tomorrow to see family - Both children and their families will be together. Now to go over and help our Canberra young family get ready foe their flight today.

Dear Jayne,

All the best and I hope you have a speedy recovery - even though it has been so long already. I will try and send you a bit of Australian sunshine.

Love Sandy

My December squishes are in the mail - apologies if they get to you very early but with the postal service I never know.

I too will not participate next year 2018 but will keep an eye on how the swap goes.

Have a great Christmas everyone.

It has been a pleasure to be part of this birthday celebration swap.

Love to all Sandy

Thank you for the link Jayne. The quilt looks so wonderful I am tempted to try it but will need to search out and through my stash.

A daunting task. I usually make so much mess pulling things out - grinning.

Cheers Sandy

Happy belated Birthday greetings from me too Marian. Hectic life here - spring and pruning that has to be done before the heat of summer - specially around the electric power lines.

Trust you celebrated your day in a manner you enjoyed. Cheers Sandy

These are all so lovely. Thank you for sharing. You have helped me so much everyone. Now I have some ideas of how to use my hug hearts. All the best Sandy

Hooray found this wonderful group again.

Thank you so much for your hearts in the past. My husband is going really well but still on the wait and watch list - which we have accepted and are getting on with our lives. We even have 3 grandchildren now - 2 girls and one little boy, who is not well but we are stronger now.

Now I wish to put them into a quilt/cushion/bag but just cannot think of a design or a way to include them all. Any ideas would be so welcome. Thank you everyone again for the hearts they came at the right time each time.

Love to every one, Sandy in sunny Canberra.

Fingers crossed those frosts and below zero nights are passed.

Have a wonderful time Mandy, then enjoy your parcels when you get back.

I am asking for some ideas of how to incorporate a number of healing hearts you lovely ladies made and sent to me a few years back when my husband was ill. I have wracked my brain but have come up short of an idea. Any ideas would be welcomed with open arms.

All the best from a sunny Canberra, Sandy

All the best Mandy in this difficult time for you. I wish you a bright future.

Thank you Marian for letting me know.

Our grandson is now 6 months into the leukaemia treatment program. He turns 2 at the end of October and is happy when he can be. Our daughter and son-in-law are bearing up well but it is tough. This part of the treatment is a fortnightly process - one day of chemo, then fluids for 3 - in hospital (mum and toddler) - then home hoping there are few side effects. This drug causes mucositis - mouth ulcers which can affect all the digestive tract. The first dose saw them back in hospitable on morphine. The second dose was not as strong, but this third one was like the first - so everyone is waiting and watching. We have finally had a month at home after 5 trips to help them out. Our daughter also broke her shoulder and wrist falling off her push bike 2 months back. We are going up the week before Christmas to celebrate with them. The interim treatment will be steroids then more them but a different type. Naturally we are tired but are coping with the situation - over reacting sometimes, patient other times.

I did have a lovely phone conversation with our daughter today and then with our 5 year old grand daughter - gee they grow up quickly. It has been nice to be home long enough to feel like sewing too. maybe the baby quilt will be bound for Christmas time but first a gift for a 2 year old little boy with a sunny smile.

Cheers Everyone and all the best. Hope your Autumn is lovely. x Sandy
