Thank you for your kind comments on my Bargello. I have had the border fabric in my stash for years. Planned to do a Bargello from a book and never did. It came from Doughtys when it was run by dad. Gradations by Caryl Bryer Fallert.

I think that's right, but a google search will find it.

Making the blocks is not particularly difficult. It just takes time and you need plenty of scraps, but most of us have those!

The most difficult thing for me was finding all the full width strips you need top and bottom of the assembled blocks.

It also helps to have a large design area to lay out the pieces at the end as it is a big quilt.

I enjoyed making it although it is not my usual kind of thing.

The bowls are lovely. Don't tell your dh but this winter we have been burning logs with those black markings. I wondered what had caused it because some were quite beautiful.

I got mine from 'the running chicken'. It is very expensive at ?20 but it is a very detailed, many paged booklet.

Eileen,
Congratulations to you both on your wedding anniversary. What a great quilt and made in such a short time scale too. I hope that you received a great gift as well!

Rosemary,
Glad your quilt has gone to a good home. Love the butterfly border. You're good at this fmq!

Here is my completed mini QAYG Bargello quilt, started in a Saturday workshop. 28 x 38". I used all fabrics from my stash. Think the tasteful backing must have come from a charity shop.

It is the 4th Bargello that I have made and the most problematic. QAYG didn't really suit this project. My trusty little workshop machine,Janome DXL603, does not have an accurate 1/4" foot and refused to QAYG with quilting thread. I switched to my Pfaff at home. I also had to unpick about half of it when I forgot to turn the chart when moving from left of centre to right of centre. Hey Ho!

You have been busy Jayne. Glad that the postcard is still on display.

Love the flying geese lap quilt Eileen. Well done on finishing both quilts.

Marian, congratulations on the speedy completion of the bird pincushion.

Wow, Rosemary, that is some record of hours. Well done and the projects are lovely.

I only managed another 3/4 hour yesterday, so just over 3 hours in total. Got the two side borders quilted and the other two borders cut out.

Well done on your Bargello, Carol. Hope you get it completed. I have finished all my borders today and just need to bind it now.

Did anyone else manage to find any time to sew over the weekend?

I did it by going to the Home page on this site, clicking on 'News - Pattern Sheets'. Then BPQ 2018 Pattern Sheets. Then April 2018 Pattern Sheet. It is an automatic pdf download.

Managed 2 1/2 hours yesterday on this mini QAYG bargello which I started in a workshop last Saturday. Yesterday I added 3 strips on each side, squared it up and added the side borders. Maybe get some time to work on it more today as well.

I HATE bunting so there is no way that I would buy a magazine just for that, even though the lamb is rather cute.

If you have got a copy of PP October 2015 there are instructions for Autumn bunting, which is the same pattern. There are plenty of copyright free Easter designs on the web.

Thanks, Carol, for the update. Glad to hear that she and the girls are coping o.k. I often think about her. Funnily enough I had just been cutting some of Katy's fabric before I read your post and the UFO I am working on is a block swap that Katy organised.

Winnie,

Bagging - Eleanor Burns calls it 'birthing'!

Top and backing rs together. Stitch all round on seam allowance leaving an opening. Pull quilt through the opening (birthing) to the rs and pull the corners into shape. Stitch opening closed and then top stitch all round to stop the edges rolling back

Hope that makes sense.

Thank you Emma. I am still on a roll - the UFO to finish in March is already chosen. Sadly, there seem to be a lot of UFOs awaiting completion.
