Oh rosemary that is awful. is it repairable or does it need replacing, [the knob not the machine.]

when things like that happen to us it is usually just out of warranty.

I found doing a very scant seam was the secret to a good curve.

I will have a go at the pinwheel this weekend.

is it too late for me to join in?

I love the rosebuds and the pin wheel. I have done the fan one before and enjoyed doing the curves.

hi Mandy.

oh dear I hope your life smoothes out soon and you can get back to sewing.

I enjoy doing a range of designs. I like seeing quilts with a repetitive motif but I think I would lose interest in doing it.

I keep looking at new blocks to try too.

yes she will, she asked for one that would be with her 'forever'. the label I put on implies it will be forever too. I'm sure she will but not so sure about her mum. she sees hand made cards as 'to mean to buy a card'. needless to say I don't 'create' for her. I found out her thoughts via a facebook post my daughter showed me. [Im not on facebook]Daughter asked her for the embroidery I'd done and she took it out of the bin. daughter has it framed in her flat.

That is a lovely quilt for a boy Jayne. I have to make one for a great nephew in blues.

This is the quilt I have made for my niece Ruby's 16th birthday on the 6th of this month. She chose the fabrics and it took about 80 hours to complete. She doesn't know which blocks I chose to use.

They did Jayne and I added some more of the blocks that are now in my eldest girls bed runner. I will add the rest of the designs used. she selected them.

I cant get it all in one photo as it is over 7ft long!

it works thank you.

I 've added 8 pictures.

thanks I'd not noticed the top tool bar.

I will give it a go.

I want to add photos but don't know how to go about starting an 'album' on here. I have pictures on my laptop can they be uploaded directly?

also do I have my own 'page' where I can add a profile?

thanks for all the welcomes. I will certainly look at the non swap thread as I enjoy trying new designs.

hello and thank you for welcoming me.

how many are in the forum? I belong to a gardening one with about 2,000 but there are only about 30 regulars of which I am one.

I love putting fabrics together and making usable quilts. so far I have made a double for my youngest daughter 20 12" patches. A single quilt of 15 12" patches for my niece and a 21 12" patch bed runner for my eldest daughter.

being self critical there is very little quilting, really just outlining the outlines of the designs within the patches. Both my girls didn't want them too heavily done so that was a blessing.

I started this hobby in February as I retired last year. But I have been sewing and embroidering for the last 45 years.

I will be asking for help with the quilt as you go method in the near future.

I will have to learn how to add photos.
