Rosemary is to be congratulated for organising this item, it has helped me stay focussed too, though I haven't done many projects. I thought I would have done more but having our youngest back from uni meant I have been doing things with her and once we could get out on the motor bikes I have been out with hubby.

so a very big thank you form me.

it was Visilene H640 fusible wadding I was thinking of. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Fiona. My eldest daughter knew what it was, she said they used it a lot at uni when they were making accessories for their fashion collections. More to the point she had some in her 'box of wonders'. Because she did gents tailoring I never thought to ask her.

thanks for the help ladies, much appreciated.

My youngest girl Victoria has just graduated with a 2:1 in wildlife conservation. As a reward we bought her a sweep net/butterfly net as it is one of her specialist areas. I have made her a bag for it so it is kept together. It is lined and has box corners.

Since the start of lockdown she has taught herself to crochet so I have made her a crochet hook roll.

This was the project I was asking about the wadding. H640 a fusible wadding. I have bee fabric in my stash and I made this for her.

She will get them when she comes home later this week. She has gone to visit her boyfriend whom she hasn't seen since late February.

I hope she likes them.

I am struggling and need help please.

I want to make a cloth roll for my daughter to keep her crochet hooks in.[Similar to a jewelry roll.] I know what I want to make but I need a thin wadding between the other fabric and the lining. Normal 80/20 is too thick. Sew in dress interfacing is too thin.

What is the product I need? I seem to remember seeing a fusible thin sheet on a sewing channel. But my local shop doesn't know what I mean.

Any one able to help me with a name please?

That looks wonderful Margaret. Shame that the fusible is so problematic.

when was the machine last cleaned? I found a friends had so much lint in the tension wheels it was affecting how it sewed.

Well ended hanging it on the line to photo it. not the best of shots. it is square but I lost some of the points on the big white diamonds/squares in the process. This corner has almost got its points so I am really happy to share that with you.

They are very pretty and compliment the settee beautifully.

Thanks Margaret, yes self threading needles are brilliant. It is remembering to leave a long enough tail end of thread that's my biggest problem. The Janome 9500 memory craft I use has a standard throat so it can be a little snug under there. I do like echo quilting to enhance a pattern within the block.

That is really pretty Steph. Love the colours feels rich and sumptuous.

Not heard of it before but that is so disappointing and frustrating for you. I will avoid it then.

it is all quilted now ready for tying off all the threads. I do, do some as I go but when I have short stretches I tend not to.

1st photo is of the central bit quilted, the 2nd is the corner bit and the 3rd is the whole thing. ready to be tidied up and then bound. I am not going to add an extra border.

it was all machined on my trusty Janome and I used the walking foot as a guide and by eye. Its the most quilting I have ever done on quilt.

I am putting all the sections together and I will not do it as a QAYG now. Just have to wash up the tea things then I can do the final 4 sections.

Guess what turned up in the post today just as I was off out on the motor bike with beloved?

my backing fabric and I am delighted with it.backing fabric.jpg

the colours are a good match for the reds in the blocks though the photos don't suggest it.

I now have to find the time to get on with it.

I am so pleased with it.

To be fair to Doughty's it is only rarely that things get delayed. I have had good very good service in the past. They are saying they have had tremendous uptake in sales due to lockdown. I think they also have had to reorganise themselves to the social distancing rules.

My local shop was slow in placing special orders and when they need local customers it seemed silly.

it was dispatched yesterday and can take up to 14 days due to all the extra post in the system. I hope that the red I have odered is more of a brownish red rather than a scarlet red. But like you say its the perils of online ordering and the way the computer renders it on the screen.

Love what you have been doing and thanks for the info on big stitching.
