More image from Judi’s visit to Japan 2010.

Updated: 19 November 2010

The images are just to give you a flavour of my tour to Japan, during which I visited Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima. There are some pictures of the group giving you a glimpse of the wonderful time we had.

Unfortunately I could not record many of the names of the quilts or makers, but was overwhelmed by the skill of the quilters and their remarkable artistry.

Japan Journeys stride into town - the 2010 group

My first sighting of Mount Fuji from the Yokohama Tower. Magic!

Street scenes in Tokyo

The Tokyo Dome from the hotel window

Tree trimming

The food made a big impression

The food made a big impression - Noodles

The food made a big impression - Traditional Japanese meals

This was the only time we saw kimonos being worn in the street – in Kyoto.

At a Kimono centre we were offered the opportunity to be fully dress in kimono, to take part in a fashion show. I wouldn’t do it for love or money, but was so proud of those who did!

We saw lots of temples! There were so many that I am afraid I could not remember most of them.

The Golden Pavilion in Kyoto – my favourite

We watched a demonstration of tie dyeing.

A wonderful market is held in Kyoto on the 25th of every month – and we were there!

The primary reason for our visit at this time was the Tokyo International Great Quilt Festival, .........

........ January 2010.The exhibition showed fantastic quilts, beautiful bags and the ‘room settings’ showcased the work of individual quilters.
