Continuous Bias for stems

1. Cut a 13" square from green fabric and make a continuous length of binding as follows:
a. Mark centre of width on 2 opposite sides, then cut square in half diagonally, dia 2a.
b. With right sides together join 2 triangles matching marked points.
c. Press seam open.

2a. On wrong side of fabric rule parallel lines across longest length, ¾" apart, dia 2b.
b. With right sides together, stitch two short sides, marked C and D, together to form a sleeve, dropping down 1 bias width at top and bottom, dia 2c.
c. Match marked lines with pins.
d. Press seam open.

3. Cut along marked lines to form 1 continuous bias strip, dia 2d.

4. Press in a bare ¼" seam allowance along one side of bias.

5. Depending how you plan to appliqué the stems you may wish to press in the seam allowance on the other side to give bias with a width of ¾" (if machine applying) or leave 2nd side unpressed if needle turning
